Bem-vindo a Portugal

Flights and baggage arrived on time and in good shape, whew.  As it took 2+ hours for passport control I cut the first ride in half and made it over to Sintra.  As almost always riding through a city is not the greatest.  There were many bike paths, but poor connectivity meant some sharing with cars.  Fortunately drivers are courteous here so far.  Sintra has ornate architecture, a hilltop castle and too many tourists.
Restaurants and cafes are significantly cheaper than in the US, which is nice 😋
My afternoon snack...
Today I rode north up a fairly touristy coast.
And happened upon a Roman bridge and road...
Plenty of spring flowers!
Looks like 3 days to Porto.

  1. While you’re heading N up the coast check out Nazaré. Wrong time of year but in winter they get surf up to 70 ft or so.
